| Abstract | Vietnam is known as a country having a marvelous record in economic growth. Its GDP
maintains growth steadily above 8.0% in recent years. Vietnam has strong potential to
speed up in the scenario of becoming a member of WTO in 2006. The oil industry plays a
very important role in the growth of its GDP. Net oil exports, after taking into account
imports of refined products, are increasing sharply. Domestic prices of petroleum products
are also on the increase. This fact, together with the policy of Vietnamese government for
the oil industry, gives firms like Nam Viet Oil Refinery and Petrochemicals JSC (NVO)
many new challenges.
However, opportunities are always accompanied with pressure and threats if NVO does not
have any particular strategic plans. The competition is not only from the domestic market
but from international corporation.
The lesson learnt from the business planning of NVO is that the there is always a way to
develop for a newly established firm like NVO howsoever the severity of competition. |
