| Abstract | The system performance in the cognitive environment is very important due to
the scarcity of the resources. In this thesis, the distributed cognitive radio pairs power
allocation and the effect on primary user performance due to imperfect channel state
information with beamforming are considered.
The ability of modeling distributed, adaptive decision makers (cognitive radios)
whose strategies affect all other such devices, motivate us to apply game theory for
analyzing the performance of a cognitive environment. We describe how secondary
users are modeled as a non cooperative game for power allocation. The iterative decision
making procedure is applied to design the power allocation scheme. In particular,
our proposed system helps the cognitive radios allocate their power so that they can
access the licensed primary user channel opportunistically on the condition that they
(secondary/cognitive users) agree to relay primary user transmit signal.
The primary user performance degradation due to the incomplete channel state
information (CSI) at the transmitter and the receiver is also studied when direct path
is not exist between the primary transmitter and the receiver. The primary transmitter
to cognitive transmitter and cognitive transmitter to primary receiver channel transmissions
take the forms of maximum ratio transmission (MRT) and maximum ratio
combining (MRC). The MRT weight vector at the primary transmitter is computed
based on the outdated CSI due to feedback delay, and the MRC weight vector at the
primary receiver is computed based on the CSI with Gaussian errors. The system
statistic of end-to-end SNR and the performance measures are derived in closed form. |
