| Abstract | For any organization to continue their existence and growth, one of the most important
aspects of the company that they have to maintain is supply chain. The bigger the company
is, the more sophisticated supply chain becomes and the more vital role it plays. In the
current global economy, supply chain has become one of the tools that set companies apart
and decides their competitiveness over other companies both domestic and international.
In the petroleum industry supply chain management faces many difficulties, especially in
the logistics area, unlike in others. These will have big impact on the price of petroleum
products. Nevertheless, there still exists ways to cut cost in the logistics area.
PetroVietnam Oil (PV OIL) Corporation was formed after merging and purchasing some
companies which are also in the field of trading and distributing petroleum. Hence, the
more urgent target of the company is to build and maintain a sustainable and effective
distribution system. By conducting qualitative analysis on Vietnam petroleum market, the
PV OIL’s existing distribution system and by evaluating the strategies of distribution, and
alliances, flaws in PV OIL’s distribution system will be revealed, studied and evaluated to
arrive at the recommendation for the distribution system in line with the business strategy
of PV OIL. |
