| Abstract | The Viet Nam offshore oil and gas industry has developed significantly from 1980s. There are
many companies have invested in exploration and production activities. How to achieve
business goals safety within budget is challenge with these companies. This will require
skillful workers and how to retain these talents is one of the most important strategies with any
oil and gas companies. The demotivation problems of staffs is one of the most popular reason
that directly affects to working capacity of employees and loss talents of companies.
The purpose of this paper is to find out the offshore staffs de-motivated their working effort, to
find out root causes of this de-motivation and come up solutions to improve the working
environment as well as the compensation package. The survey was conducted at several
offshore oil fields with offshore employees and with several offshore line managers (offshore
installation managers) to get their opinions on the working environment.
Very interesting data was collected and analyzed based on HRM literature. The author
believes that the finding will help his organization to deal with demotivation problems
successfully and also can be a reference source for other organization if they are facing the
same problem |
