| Abstract | In recent years Telecom industry in Vietnam was improving rapidly, which provided by World
Telecom 2009. The amount of users for mobile and internet in Vietnam has sequent increased to
80 millions and 20.7 millions in 2008. The 6.23% growth rate in GDP, the powerful FDI of USD
64 billion and the remarkable import/ export development also has contributed to the prompt
developing economy and the press for quickly approval of the progressive communication
technique and electronics unit in Vietnam. They would be the important evidence of describing the
intensive business growth opportunities in ICT and relevant industries here.
Over the past few years, the contribution of the Telecom industry in Vietnam GDP which has risen
in billions US dollar and employment in Telecom industry has also developed. Firmly believe in
this development rate, people can say Vietnam was emerging as one of the fastest developing
economies of the world with an intensive expansion of business opportunities. In facts, IT and
Telecom industry (ICT industry) was poised to develop further and it was project that in the next
10 years, Vietnamese Telecom will overpass China that was considering as one of the fastest
developing countries in the global economic map.
In the near future of Vietnam Telecom industry, it is definitely stimulating but there were several
human resources challenging which are caused by the industry such as, lack of competent staff for
both operational and managerial levels and it also made a big gap between supply and demand of
personnel resource.
The objectives of Telecom growth demands a good strategic human resource management, which
objects at the Telecom industry labor force, host community, which strengthens by theories and
real practices. Actually, the sustainability of business bases on work culture, professional ethics,
and operational practices. Vietnamese Telecom, despite of being in the opening stages, has shown
their potentiality through the rapid development , and shortcomings in the SHRM which has been
one of the causes for a lower performance because of unstructured and untrained their personnel
resources and unnoticed HR problems and policies at both of macro and micro level .
This research attempts to prospect into the findings above through analyzing at the view of the
stakeholders position, host community, education/ training institutions, and employees. By
discussions, market surveys and business case study to give out some suggestions and solutions to
fill the gap between the expected and supplied requirements and to promote awareness amongst
the current generation about the potentiality of Vietnam ICT industry to them who choose it like
their career. |
