| Abstract | Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company (BSJC), formerly had been a State-owned Company,
became the current name according to new mechanism on May 2005. The company is one
of the leading sugar enterprises in the South of Viet Nam that specializes in manufacturing
white refined sugar and wine & spirits.
People play the most important role in business success for a company. Aware of this,
BSJC has built the good human resource with more than 740 people, which have different
background. Nevertheless, BSJC now is facing the problems of increasing employee
turnover, attracting, retaining and motivating qualified employees to work for the company.
In order to identify the root causes of the problems, a survey method has been used
combining with in - depth interviews with human resource manager and Board of Directors
within the company. There are four critical causes of the problems identified: ineffective
and inequitable performance appraisal, uncompetitive compensation and benefits, lack of
orientation program, limited and ineffective training and development.
This study focuses on how to retain and motivate BSJC employees. Based on the problem
analysis, solutions and recommendations are proposed with more competitive human
resource management policies including compensation and benefits, working environment,
training and development. |
