| Abstract | Incidence of rape case is high in Myanmar, rape victims are not been helped and the
criminals are outskirt of law unpunished because of the application of legal jurisdiction
application of law and social norms put undermine in the stage of medical forensic
nomination. However, rape related pregnancy and unwanted disease due to rape is in iceberg
phenomena today and there is no official data for whole population. Colonel Tin Win,
the security and border affairs minister for Yangon Region, announced that for year of
2013, officially 97 cases were reported. Most of the victims were underage girls. 69 were
committed against underage girls (Eleven, 2013). Rape related health problems effects
physically and mentally to individual rape victim but also public health on its society the
rest of its life. Reproductive health services to victims of rape are practically unmet need.
The researcher looked at the obstacles and challenges of rape victims to get social support
and health services following in case of rape. The research requested informed consent and
conducted privacy in-depth interview to 16 rape survivors and service providers, both
medical professionals and social workers. |
