| Abstract | The paper assess the possibility of dissemination of Cleaner Production (CP), a
management tool to be applied to industrial enterprises to improve their environmental as
well as productivities condition, in Vietnam. The tool has been introduced in Vietnam
for more than a decade and has been proven to be very effective in pilot industries, yet it
is having difficulty to spread out due to different barriers.
Recognizing the benefit of the tool and despite the barriers, Vietnamese government has
issued a national strategy to disseminate it to the country’s industrial community. The
paper, in an attempt to propose a new element to CP dissemination program in Vietnam,
studies the barrier and how it has been addressed so far and what should be done more
management wise to make to strategy work in Vietnam.
It was found that being originated in western countries, for CP to be successful in
Vietnam, it is necessary to have some new elements to the CP dissemination program that
take into account Vietnam traditional corporate culture; CP methodology should be
simplified; and lack of management skill in especially small, private industries should be
addressed. |
