| Abstract | Nowadays, together with the globalization and fast pace of technology growth, economy
crisis is also one of the key factors which create fierce competition to Vietnamese
enterprises.
Strategic management is one of the most important skills in business management. It
determines the success of an organization. Corporate strategies which are implemented in
an organization create key impacts on the organization performance (Jones and Hill, 2010).
Strategic management is divided into 3 steps. Strategy analysis: an assessment of the
internal and external environments in which the organization competes; Strategy
formulation: determination and selection of appropriate strategies; and strategy
implementation: implementation of designed strategies to achieve higher efficiency and
effectiveness of the organization’s performance in order to gain a sustainable competitive
advantage.
In this research, the author who is the managing director of Petroleum Pipeline and Tank
Construction Joint Stock Company (PVC-PT) aims to analyze the current performance of
strategic management in the company. And from this fact, he comes up with the design of
an organizational change in the company in order to develop and grow in the upcoming
time.
The research is based on the recent theories and best practices of the strategic management.
Key analysis methods are used in the research, including SWOT analysis method, GEMcKinsey
matrix of Industry Attractiveness - Competitive Position, Porter’s Five Forces
Model and the Macro-environment analysis. |
