| Abstract | Maintaining the assets in oil & gas industry today is becoming increasing critical which is
particularly true for the old facilities. The production department of Japan Vietnam
Petroleum Company (JVPC) is handling all matters related to maintenance management of
offshore facilities in Rang Dong field, so it becomes more challenges at this time to
manage the maintenance tasks effectively and keep equipment reliability and continue
production at high demand.
In this research, the author, as a maintenance engineer, aims to analyze the current
maintenance management system of JVPC and to find out the gaps and challenges which
JVPC maintenance team is facing in maintenance activities on offshore facilities. What are
the tools to evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance performance is the main concern and
the author wants to use these tools to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of
maintenance and its related performance. It is believed that maintenance performance
indicators are useful for managing the maintenance function.
The research has applied the business analysis methods including SWOT model to analyze
the current situation and to determine the weaknesses and the threats of the company in
regard to improvement of maintenance management.
The author has conducted a questionnaire survey with the main clients, i.e., maintenance
members, from both onshore and offshore teams who are involving in the maintenance
activities of JVPC facilities and understanding deeply the maintenance system of JVPC.
The main scope of this work is to understand in details the maintenance performance of
JVPC, the challenges which are facing and to define the tool for measurement of
maintenance performance. Based on the outcomes of survey and analysis, the research will
be concluded with recommendations for maintenance team to apply and improve the
current management system. |
