| Abstract | The competition in construction material market in Vietnam is tougher and tougher every
year. Many local products need to be exported to other countries while some imported
products keep continuing to penetrate Vietnam market. Those products make the
competition in this market even fiercer. To keep its footprint in this market, all the
companies need to put big effort on marketing activities. One of those activities is
strengthening the distribution network. A smart policy and an effective network of
distributors will enable the producer to stabilize the market with lowest risk and operation
cost.
This research aimed at improving the efficiency of distribution network management for
Siam Cement Trading Co. Ltd. (SCT) in Vietnam, which distributes Siam Cement Group’s
(SCG’s) building material products in Vietnam. The research starts with an overview of
construction material market in Vietnam followed by an overview of SCT and SCG
Vietnam. Next, more details on the weaknesses and strengths of the current distribution
network which were collected from primary data sources and through interviews were
presented and discussed. The study was then concluded with the recommendations to help
improve the distribution network management of SCG so that SCG could compete more
effectively and gain more market share in the highly competitive market of building
material products in Vietnam. |
