| Abstract | Oil and gas industry is very high risk to environmental pollution; a last decade more
frequently catastrophic disasters were happened, the Deepwater Horizon disaster of April
2010 in the Gulf of Mexico is the worst oil spill in this period. Viet Nam government
nowadays is more focus on environmental protection in economic developing. Moreover, a
surrounding community is increasing awareness, better understanding of adverse
environmental impact on their living and health. Understanding present situation, Oil&
Gas production Enterprise (OGPE) endeavors to minimize their impact on environment, to
avoid a legal problem, to increase its reputation as environmental friendly, by improving
effectiveness of an environmental management system (EMS).
This research will analyze company’s existing EMS to discover its elements to be
improved as well as to suggest solutions, recommendations to improve the overall
company EMS.
The research uses qualitative approach with questionnaire/ check list and deep interview,
discussion among related top management board, managers, together with analyzing
company’s internal documentation to evaluate an actual status of the existing EMS in
comparison with environmental standard ISO 14001: 2004.
The finding of the research is indicated a GAP between the Company EMS and the
standard ISO 14001: 2004, and first steps of adopting ISO 14001: 2004 to improving the
company EMS. |
