| Abstract | Hugamex is one of the top garment businesses in quality in Ho Chi Minh City and has
contributed to the development of Vietnam garment industry. The long-term performance of
Hugamex is the result of how the company manages its resources. In this “Dot.Com Era”,
human resource is the invaluable asset to any businesses and Hugamex is not an exceptional
case.
Successful management to help the company be more competitive in the market requires an
efficiently functioning retention system of human resource department. And the retention
system in Hugamex is one of the key factors of human resource management. In recent years
the number of skilled employees leaving Hugamex has been increasing and the company has
suffered a lot of problems including increasing costs and poor performance due to the high
turnover rate. Therefore, this research is to learn the current retention system in Hugamex and
who have involved in this system. From the current policies and practices of human resource
management in Hugamex, the company’ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
which affected the retention process were analyzed. This is a qualitative research and both
primary data and secondary data were collected to serve the analysis of this process in
Hugamex.
After finding the root causes of skilled employees leaving the company, the research
suggested some solutions to reduce the turnover of skilled employees, enhance the employee
retention activities, maintain and grow the company’s sales and profit in an intensively
competitive market. These recommendations help to create the favorable conditions for
employee retention factors. These conditions include giving the employees the opportunity for
career growth, learning, and development, building a competitive salary and benefits system,
and implementing an intensive career development program. |
