| Abstract | As a result of the bursting economic bubble in mid 1997, the economy has been in a
continuous recession. Most businesses,, especially small and medium size enterprises in
Thailand, have suffered significantly from the fluctuation of the interest and foreign exchange
rates and the decreasing of domestic demand.
I chose Thai Patanakit Transformer as the case study for my research. This research paper is
an analysis of the industry and the company with the goal of developing business strategies
and marketing strategies to deal with the constantly changing business environment. The
external and internal environments had been analyzed to identify both opportunities and
threats within the transformer industry. The company's internal strengths and weaknesses have
been analyzed by benchmarking against its competitors. The buyer behavior was identified
from buyer questionnaire surveys.
The study found that Thai Patanakit is facing not ·only a price war, but also challenges
internally within their management. The research furthermore identifies interesting points and
useful recommendations that could be important, if not critical, to the continued success,
development and survival of the company's products and services. |
