| Abstract | The Analysis Interpretive Treatise (AIT) is a program to perform processes in
structural analysis by the matrix and the finite element methods. In the present study, the AIT
Program for Windows operating system is modified to increase the convenience in using it.
The pre-processor, the post-processor and the user interface are written with Visual Basic 6.0
(SP3).
The command input interface is designed to be compatible with the DOS version. A
text editor specially designed for the AIT Program commands is built into the program.
Microsoft access database structure is used for storing matrix and finite element data. An
explorer-like interface is designed to view and edit the data. Structural dynamic commands
are added into the program. The processing modules from the legacy Fortran codes of the
DOS version are compiled into external dynamic link libraries (DLL) files. Mixed language
programming is used for calling these Fortran DLLs from Visual Basic.
The AIT Program is also developed into a Web-based application. The pre-processor
and post-processor are modified and compiled as an ActiveX DLL object. The registered
ActiveX DLL on the server computer, together with the Fortran DLLs form the back-end
processing engine of the AIT Program (Web application). For the user interface, Web pages
replace the traditional forms of the desktop application. Active Server Pages Technology is
used for data transfer between the user and the program.
Finally, a complete documentation of the AIT Program including the users manual is
given. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the use of the program. |
