| Abstract | The software industry is in a growth stage in Vietnam. The market is attributed as small but
promising of high demand in the future. The situation of competition among software companies
and the growth trend requires domestic software companies to have suitable development strategy.
The global trend now is developing software companies gradually export software to developed
countries, with higher proportion. However, the export is limited to the low skilled works and large
percentages are in form of outsourcing from developed software companies.
VIT INFOTECH is a limited medium-size software-development company in Hanoi. The company
produces made-to-order software mainly for state owned companies and government office. It has
some certain strengths as compared with equivalent companies such as high skilled workforce,
closed relations with research institutes and traditional customers. But it also discloses some
significant weak points such as poor marketing activities, small scope, limit in internal resources.
This research included the SWOT analysis of the VIT infotech situation, small surveys of
customers and software companies. The surveys were aimed to support the understanding of the
market and strategic position of the company.
The desire of VIT development is to rapidly expand the scope of the company, develop both
quality and quantity aspects.
Hence, a development strategy have been developed, which included some major parts like target
market, marketing strategy and strategic alliance or joint venture policy. The direction of the
business in the future for VIT is suggested to base on the domestic as foundation, export service to
international market. The final vision is to become internationally recognized Software Company. |
