| Abstract | The restructuring of petroleum industry in China started from 1998. The restructuring of
giant SOEs in China is the requirement of enhancing the SOEs' performance and
efficiency and integrating them into the global economy.
Separating the government controlling from SOE operation and establishing the modern
petroleum enterprise system are the key factors for China petroleum indush·y restrncturing.
The research is an effort to give a general view about the development of China peh·oleum
industry and describe, analyze and evaluate the restructuring process and output. The
privatization and restructuring experiences of foreign petr·oleum industr·ies and domestic
SO Es are reviewed to explore the lessons of the China petr·oleum industry's reform.
Suggestions and recommendations are given to the policy makers to consider the further
steps of restructuring in principal business part, non-core business part and social service
part. The newly founded petroleum companies will be the main players concenh·ating with
core peh·oleum business in domestic and foreign petroleum market. The other parts, which
have been separated from original petr·oleum indushy will be totally independent and
establish their own competitive advantages in the future. |
