| Abstract | There have in recent years been rapid increases in energy demand to accommodate the
higher rate of economic growth in the riparian countries. Especially, Thailand and Vietnam
have required an expansion of the power generation capacities in the riparian countries of
the lower Mekong basin. As a consequence, more and more pressure has been exerted on
the limited financial resources of the region to expand the power generating capacities.
Development of an integrated transmission system will be an important complementary
programme to the expansion of power generating capacity to meet the rapidly increasing
demand and to cope with the economic growth of the riparian countries.
The purpose of this study was to draw up conceptual development plans for the regional
power interconnection network. Achieving this goal, study performed power system
analysis on Mekong Integrated Transmission System, and study intensively focused on
power flow analysis under normal conditions and contingencies. |
