| Abstract | In a service system, whenever there is a need for redesign or improvement it, one would like
to know the behaviors of the new layout in advance. Without interrupting the real system, a
simulation tool can analyze and investigate the alternative layouts. A simulation model is
developed for the health care system, with a multitude of interactions between patients,
physicians, doctors and support staff and support instruments.
This study uses simulation package, SIGMA, to evaluate the system performance of the
Examining Section of ChoRay's hospital in HoChiMinh City, Vietnam. From the weaknesses
detected by simulation, alternatives were generated from the existing system. The evaluation
is then made to obtain the alternative layout that has the best performance measures in the
service time per total time in system, the utilization of the examining room and the testing
room. |
