| Abstract | The construction industry has played a significant role in the Thai economy for a long time.
Provincial contractors are a part of the construction industry in Thailand. People are attracted to
careers in the field. Success in the construction business is more difficult due to obstacles in
managing both internal and external environments. Therefore, considering major factors
affecting business is needed for provincial contractors. This study was limited to small to
medium Thai construction companies maximum construction valued at 100 million baht located
in 5 provinces of northeastern Thailand. The total number of samples is 60, selected at nonrandom.
Results revealed that, almost all provincial contractor in Thailand, the major type of organization
structure is "functional organization". Provincial contractors (present) rank the meeting of
customers' expectations first while good quality of product is rank second. High competition and
slump of property sector are obstructions to the success of local contractors.
Trend of organizational growth of 60 samples: 34 are increasing their number of staff, while 45
are increasing construction value. Moreover, almost all provincial contractors who have another
business are Sole proprietorship and Partnership. Almost all provincial contractors who have
another business are increasing their number of staff and increasing construction value. Finally,
almost all provincial contractors who have another business are "construction material
suppliers". |
