| Abstract | A study was conducted at the Lam Jakarat Watershed Located in Nakom Rathchasima to
assess the water availability in the area that can be used ยท for domestic and agricultural water
demand during the study period. So climate and hydrological data from the watershed for
period 32 years ( 1967-1998) were collected to analyze discharge and generate relationship
between catchment area and stream flow. Result indicates that the water demand in the
watershed, exceeds the water supply as reflected in the negative values of inflow mmus
outflow. That means water availability is not enough and there is shortage water.
It was found from the analysis of water availability and water demand of Jakarat River in each
sub-basin that lack of water likely occurred in period January to March and June to August.
This situation had occurred every year from 1967-1998. Note that drought had not occurred in
the sub-basin Klongsaraphet, middle part of Jakarat River, since water demand is low. This is
due to slope of the irrigated area being rather high there is therefore, seldom cultivation.
Furthermore, there is the problem of acid soil in this area. In conclusion, the Lam Jakarat
watershed should be continuously developed for extending the irrigated area and reducing
water sh011age. |
