| Abstract | Economic development through opening centred planned market up to the free-market
competition has make possible to allow economic public sector enterprises prepare
themselves to be competitive.
In Cambodia, these public enterprises have been played very virtual role in economic
development of the country. However, those enterprises have lost their grounds by which
they are very unproductive in term of performance and management. The study has been
focused on the strategy formulation and implementation of public enterprises and fined the
way out for sustainability and profitability.
The study has found that most public enterprises are not very good in terms of
performance and management. Board of Directors is not contributing much in the success
of the business, they are mostly politically influent. Top management hasĀ· irrelevant and
less or no experiences both locally and internationally in managing business~ they usually
assigned by the government and political party. Generally, public enterprises, in Cambodia,
have not clear strategic vision and objectives are being used in their organisation.
Finally, the study has concluded with sets of recommendation for specific public
enterprises studied, public enterprises as whole, and for the government to take action in
order public enterprises are sustainable and profitable. |
