| Abstract | business enterprise. Nobody can deny that without quality improvement no company can
expect success in business. Worldwide, customer demands on and expectations of quality are
increasing. The concept of quality has acquired a dynamic dimension with the realization that
continuos improvement is needed if a company is to maintain a business good position. This
development places demands on companies for the production of products and services that
satisfy customer needs and demands as far as possible. One way of showing the customers that
the company assures the quality of their products or services is to implement a quality system
according to ISO 9000.
In 1987 an internationally recognized series of quality system, ISO 9000, was
developed by the International Standards Organization in response to the challenges of
increasing market globalization. It has been widely accepted in all regions of the developed
and developing countries. These standards are viewed as powerful tools for effectiveness
management not only of product quality but also of all business operation irrespective of their
sector.
Vietnam is one of the growing economies in the South East Asia. ISO 9000 standard
recently became a major topic at various conferences within the business community in
Vietnam, and it is considered a method that helps improvement of the management of product
quality and helps Vietnamese goods can integrating into the world market.
Throughout this study, I would like to show why Vietnamese companies are interested
in getting ISO 9000 certification and how are they implemented ISO 9000 certification, why
are the Vietnamese companies achieved slowly ISO 9000 certification? And how Vietnamese
companies think about the effects and difficulties in the implementation of ISO 9000 quality
system?
Research finding and difficulties associates with implementation of ISO 9000 in the
Vietnamese companies were identified. Recommendations to the Government policy makers
and the companies are provided for further improvement of implementation of ISO 9000
quality system. The scope for further research was also suggested. |
