| Abstract | This thesis deals with the prediction of ultimate capacity of driven piles for
residual soil in Rayong Province, Thailand and the analysis of pile driving data by five
conventional driving formulae.
The result of static method gave over estimation of the ultimate loads of short
driven pile and a good estimation of the ultimate loads of long driven piles. The pile load
test data shows that test was performed only two to two and half times of design load.
Therefore, the load settlement curves shows that the tests were stopped in early elastic
condition. "The Chin's method" overestimated the ultimate loads of driven piles and "the
Mazurkiewicz's method" was extensively used to interpret the ultimate loads of driven
pile.
Theory basic calculation of conventional driving formulae gave the underprediction
except "the Engineering News Formula". "The Janbu's Formula" gave good
estimation of the ultimate load of driven pile. The proposed constants were deduced from
ultimate capacity of static load test. Then, the correlation between the ultimate capacity
of static load test and the dynamic load test were also evaluated. The proposed constants
can give a good estimation of ultimate static load after correction. |
