| Abstract | A major transformation is upon businesses worldwide. Globalization, deregulation, the
demand for shorter product cycles and requirement for improved customer service are forcing
organizations to change the way they work. Network computing, driven by the Internet,
enables real-time interaction and information sharing that is transforming organizations on a
global scale. This transformation is based on the Global Information Infrastructure which in
turn supports electronic commerce. Electronic commerce is the future form of conducting
businesses worldwide. This research study attempts to study the information infrastructure that
is available in the countries of India, Singapore and Thailand. Based on the study it gives
suitable measures that would enable effective electronic commerce development. In particular
it suggests measures such as a nation-wide fiber optic terrestrial network, ATM switches,
creation of business related electronic commerce networks for inter and intra business
transactions, regulatory authority for certification of standards for payments and for secure
electronic transactions. |
