| Abstract | In this study, a feasibility of using computer in inventory management system for a
wire mesh company has been conducted.
First. the existing manual inventory system is described to highlight the problems
faced by the company in making appropriate inventory decision. These problems can be
identified as (1) un-enforced inventory policy, (2) raw material price fluctuation, (3) demand
uncertainty, (4) raw material stock out and (5) high inventory holding cost. In order to solve
the above problems, a new computer-based inventory management system is developed. The
system provides relevant information (in various types of report) on the inventory status of the
warehouse in timely way for the management to make inventory related decision. The
proposed system is then evaluated and steps are recommended for implementation. |
