| Abstract | China's capital markets have evolved in parallel to China's move towards the
establishment of a market economy. With the stable economic achievement, Chinese stock
markets have shown a remarkable growth. Accompanied with the economic and system
reform, Chinese stock markets system becomes more mature and complement. Chinese stock
markets gradually becomes a competitive international market, provides a fair and transparent
and vibrant marketplace.
This research is to get an overview of Chinese stock markets, presenting a sketch of the
development of the two Chinese stock markets (Shanghai and Shenzhen), with the focus on
their operational mechanism and regulato1y framework. It introduces China's primary and
secondary markets, major issues to be addressed including their development, evolution,
peiĀ·formance and prospects. Currently, stock markets are an essential way for completing the
reform of Chinese state-owned enterprises. Privatization is one way to establish the so-called
socialist market economy system. Some recommendations and conclusions are given from the
study. The study also provides the basis for further study of an emerging capital market and
privatization. |
