| Abstract | Existing database technology currently provides little support for managing temporal
data or time-varying information. Researchers have proposed temporal data models, temporal
query language and temporal database management system for handling temporal data.
However such data could be handled on non-temporal DBMS such as relational database
management systems by using data type supplies in these DBMS.
This thesis describes the design and implementation of the temporal document
database system which uses the relational database management system Oracle for storing,
managing documents metadata and their associated temporal data. For retrieval the system
uses facilities provides by HTML. |
