| Abstract | Thie traditional network did not respond well to the organization needs for
sharing resources and information. Thus, building an intranet system on a legacy
network system which Homepage is developed is a better strategy. The structural
components of an intranet is analyzed and the procedure analysis for transition from a
legacy network system to an intranet is developed.
Object-Oriented approach with Booch method and UML modeling language,
the Internet, the intranet and the client/server concept are the methodology for analysis
and design of system level configuring and application(Homepage ). Components of an
intranet system classified into two parts, common and optional components. Common
components are sufficient in building simple intranet system and optional components
are probably integrated or extended into an intranet system growth. The developed
procedure for transition from a legacy network system to an intranet system composed
of seven steps. Each step defines the considerations, criteria which should be
concerned. Furthermore, the suggestions for each step are given.
A case study from the Data Processing Division of the Communications
Authority of Thailand (C.A.T.) has been taken to validate and illustrate this analysis
and design approach. An intranet system is implemented and the
application(Homepage) is developed for the division. |
