| Abstract | The Taki dam river basin is a very heavy snowfall region with many observing stations
in the center part of Japan. In order to analyze water balance of a region with snowfall which
results runoff delay due to snow storage and snow melt, the Taki dam river basin was selected
for the study purpose.
The water balance deals with the analysis which balances the continuity equation for a
basin on an average basis and on dynamic basis. Using daily rainfall , daily temperature ,
runoff and snowdepth with elevation over the basin as input data, a water balance was derived
for upper Taki dam river basin. Evapotranspiration , most important element was computed by
Thomethwaite method and Hamon method and the suitability of the empirical equations in the
snow region was examined. The regression equations were obtained from the observation data
relating snowfall, snow depth and elevation for the precipitation correction. The results are for
surface compared with actual runoff in order to determine the water balance in the Taki dam
river basin from 1988 to 1994. |
