| Abstract | The newspaper industry in Indonesia has commenced the active use of information technology
to supp01t its activities. In its publishing process, it commonly uses personal computer Local
Area Networks. This network is linked to other nodes for various reasons. This linking
requires telecommunication technology in the form of telecommunication services. This study
focuses on the development of a framework to help newspaper companies choose the most
suitable telecommunication se1vices to achieve and enhance competitiveness. The framework
is based on the synthesis of the extensive literature that has come out in the area of technology
choice. Four case studies, based on this framework, covering more than thiity newspaper
companies, were conducted. The findings suggest that the framework is indeed useful in
helping newspaper companies to select suitable telecommunication services.
Recommendations are made to both the newspaper companies and telecommunication services
providers to improve overall performance. |
