| Abstract | The ultimate objective of this research is to help providing ATC (Taiwan) with a
tool to achieve "the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic" in Taipei FIR.
Specially, the research, based on extensive and critical review of literature on the air traffic
control operations, develops a conceptual framework to define and measure the workload
of a radar controllers as well as its major determinant, the traffic loads at CKS TRACON.
A mathematical model is developed, and validated through careful field
measurements, to describe the dependence of the workload on the various traffic loads.
As an implication, the impacts of various traffic factors on the air traffic controllers
can be analyzed. The results provide practical applications in planning and measuring the
ATC workforce as well as the traffic at the CKS TRAC ON. |
