| Abstract | The construction progress report is one tool using for controlling the construction project.
The conventional progress report method, which normally produces in the paper-document
formats, is not effective for the more complex project in the present. It is not well functioned
to support management decision making. Faster and more accurate decision making by the
management needs supporting of sufficient and punctual information in order to taking right
decision in properly period.
With the new multimedia computerized technologies available in the present day, the
concept of multimedia application for construction progress report was initiated. The objective
of the multimedia progress report system prototype developing is to provide the sufficient,
necessary, and timeliness information in more attractive format for management. The physical
progress, cost perfo1mance, suggestion, and early alert system, are presented in tabular form,
audio clips, and video clips format, through the Internet World Wide Web (WWW) system. It
facilitates management to access the information which stored in Web server machine from
remote area. Exceptional report concept and security system are also considered because the
system is not allow everyone to access information without correctly loginname and password.
In conclusion, the multimedia progress report system prototype can provide on-line, and
up-to-date exceptional progress report of database and others media information to each
management. The higher management can drill-down into more detail information. So that
management can ensure that they have enough information support their decision making in
their management level. |
