| Abstract | With the stable economic achievement, Taiwan stock market has shown a remarkable
growth. For the past years, Taiwan stock exchange successfully modernized its bourse by
introducing automated trading system, improvement in market infrastructure and providing
new products. Presently, the bourse tries to develop into a competitive international market by
contributing easy access for all market participants, and by providing a fair and transparent
marketplace.
Accordingly, the liberalization and deregulation of Taiwan stock market is an essential
and integral part of its future development. In addition, the government has decided to scrap
all the obstacles and restrictions on foreign investment, and to encourage more foreign
investors to join the local market and accelerate its internationalization. The objective of this
study is to provide a better understanding of the development of T AIEX and its prospects
towards liberalization, deregulation and internationalization. Results of the study, through
interview, indicate that for this to be successful, the government should consider the effect of
its economic policies and trends, market liquidity, political environment, business growth and
momentum, market sentiment and speculation. |
