| Abstract | This study is carried out to serve three objectives. First objective is to identify the
factors affecting attractiveness of Indochina countries for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
Those countries are Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao
PDR) and Kingdom of Cambodia. The second objective is to rank the attractiveness of the
selected countries for FDI. Finally, an overview on the present investment climate in those
countries is provided to support the decision making.
In this study, an analytical model for decision making of FDI is developed. Relevant
and important FDI factors, from the economic aspects, social viewpoints and political
environments, are taken into consideration. Thus, the questionnaires are designed for taking
judgment data from respondents. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach is
applied. In the application of model for this study, Expert Choice software package is used
to carry out the evaluation.
By using the model, the FDI factors were ranked based on their importance.
Political Stability and Risk Factor was found to be the most important factor. The second
most important factor was Availability and Accessibility of Labor. The third most
important factor was Physical and Social Infrastructure, followed by Availability and
Accessibility of Natural ResoW'ces, Market Potential, Profit Potential and Cost Advantages,
Technology and Services, Economics Performance and Stability, Government Policies,
Laws and Incentives and Linkages of Cultural Network.

countty, followed by The Lao PDR and Cambodia respectively . |
