| Abstract | Architects play an impo1tant role in the pe1f01mance of construction & infrastructural
projects to achieve the project goals. The problems of projects delay, budget overruns and low
quality are often due to the incompatibility of the designs and the overall capacity and pe1fo1mance
of the project teams. This study aims at identifying the needs of developing competency and skills
in project management for architects. The ultimate objective is to recommend a curriculum
development on project management for the architectural schools suitable to the needs of the
construction industry in Thailand. For this purpose, a survey of architecture and enginee1ings
practitioners and university instructors will be carried out. Analysis of the data collected will se1ve
to identify: 1) the major topics of relevance in educating future Thai architects; 2) the existing gap
between the needs of practitioners in construction project management and the knowledge
provided by the schools; and 3) guidelines to b1idge this gap with a new and innovative
curriculum proposal. |
