| Abstract | This paper presents theoretical results for the power law dependence (numerical index n),
that defines the degree of increase or decrease of path loss as the signal propagates over building
rooftops for varying parameters such as frequency, spacing distance between buildings and
antenna height. Likewise, the behavior of the overall path loss as the signal is transmitted from
base station over the rooftops of the buildings, and down to the mobile receiver as it moves along
the road, is also presented.
The behavior of the signal as it is propagated over the building rooftops tends to have an
opposite effect for antennas above the rooftop compared for those below. However, for the ones
on the level of the building edge, the path loss is not affected by any other parameters, but only by
the number of screen I building edge. As the signal is diffracted from the edge of the screen down
to mobile at street level, the path loss decreases as the mobile moves away from the building side
(away from base) and away from the normal line. This phenomena manifest the significant effect
of the diffraction to the path loss and signal level than range dependence. |
