| Abstract | The policy of the restructing of agricultural production was launched in order to solve
the problem of low price of major farm products, which directly affects the income and the
standard of living of the farmers in Thailand. However, the level of policy adoption is not
much responded by the farmers in the study area. Therefore, the study is aimed at
understanding the decision making process of farmers for selecting their cropping patterns in
the current situation as well as their existing farm constraints which are the key factors for
policy adoption. The study emphasizes on the perception of farmers in selecting the cropping
pattern to achieve the above aim, since the decision making of farming activities in the
country is more independent. The concerned for internal and external factors, existing
problems, requirements of farmers, etc. were probed in order to assess their relations and the
difficulty in accepting the alternative crops. The result proved that the external factors, price
and market of crops, influence the farmers' decision making process. The recommended
improvements were proposed to pinpoint the possible means of strengthening and improving
the extension work, as well as improve the concerned resources to support the small farmers
to be able to obtain more opp01tunities to upgrade their socio-economic status. |
