| Abstract | The construction industry in Vietnam is expected to be in a booming state in the forthcoming
years. However, information about the construction industry is ve1y limited and there is not
yet a thorough and systematic investigation on this industry.
This thesis attempts to study the past developments of the construction industry in Vietnam
and the factors influencing the industry. The current organizational structure of the industry is
ve1y complicated. Government policies have changed sereval times in the past and the
education for construction professionals is under many authorities.
At present, the construction industry has many oppoturnities for development. Therefore, a
strategy framework to develop the industry is proposed. First, are proposed strategies for
development of government policies in terms of construction bidding, capital investment,
management of construction (materials in quality and its importation), reform some institutes
and departments in the Ministry of Construction, and enhance the activities of the private
sector in this industry. Second, are proposed strategies for development of education system
in te1ms of improved the management of construction education system, investing more
capital to provide for the needs of education, the labor skills in construction, and proposed to
develop construction education system in Vietnam by taking experiences from other countries. |
