| Abstract | An industry can be analyzed from different perspectives
depending on the objectives the analyst has on his mind. The
industry structure analysis essentially covers the assessment of the
crucial competitive forces and critical success factors with the
endview of finding the viable entry points and the best defensible
niche in the industry. Consonant to these, this research study is
designed to have three core components akin to its meaningful
contributions, as follows: first, the analysis of the performance of
the Philippine beer industry in the 1980s; second, the examination
of the underlying determinants of beer competition in the
Philippines rooted in its industry structure; and third, drawing
implications for product technology as part of the business strategy
of a potential entrant. The industry competitive impact from a
potential entrants' viewpoint, as opposed to corporate profit
performance, is the focus of this research study. |
