| Abstract | The Lat Krabang EPZ (LKEPZ) was established from part of the Lat Krabang Industrial
Estate in 1971 in a Special fenced area on the South-East of Bangkok. It was hoped that such
zones as the LKEPZ would attract foreign investment and contribute to Thai's export-led growth.
The analysis of LKEPZ in Thailand is carried out in the framework of a Cost-Benefit
study of public investment. Under base case assumption, it was shown that the project would have
negative cash flow during the first five years. The project IRR is 23.5 % which is high for a
public project.
The sensitivity analysis considers the effect of opportunity cost of labor ,foreign exchange
premium and the life of the zone. In the worst case, the IRR is found to be 10 %, which indicates
that the project is good for Thailand. |
