| Abstract | "Reforestation of Denuded Forest Land s in Khao Kho" (Khao Kho Project)
is a project organized b y FAO with the aim to rehabilitate forests in Khao Kho
district of Petchabun Province of Thailand in order to improve the living
condition of the local people. One project activity is to establish three villages
to settle the project beneficiaries in order to promote the reforestation practice
through various approaches. This study is under the Khao Kho Project. The
objective of the study is to provide a settlement design for two of these three
new villages.
The site selection, design criteria and layout design of the village
settlements are proposed based on the results of the primary survey and field
observation, and related secondary information, both on the socio-economical and
physical aspects.
According to the design criteria, a layout design is formulated on the site
selected which owns better topography, easier access to water resources, existing
roads a n d advantage of natural drain.
The layout design of the settlements covers land subdivision plan and
infrastructure design. two villages are design to b e attached in order to save
infrastructure. Four clusters are formulated with a consideration of the
possibility of community participation in the construction process. |
