| Abstract | This study presents the installation of an automated
monitoring system for agrometeorological data using data logger
CR21 with sensors and lysimeters at the ALWDP experimental field
in the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, during the
period of February to June 1989. These instruments collect the
data continuously.
For the reliability of the instruments all sensors were
calibrated in the Calibration Laboratory of the Instrument
Division under the Meteorological Department, Bangna, Bangkok,
Thailand. Some instruments were recalibrated in the Hydraulics
Laboratory of Water Resources Engineering Division and in the
Laboratory of Energy Technology Division at AIT. The calibrated
results were close to the specifications given in the manuals.
The International Standards recommended by the World
Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Food and Agricultural
Organization (FAO) were followed for installing these
instruments.
The observed data from the lysimeters were quite low due to
the type of grass, the fine texture of the soil at the site (clay
type), high compaction characteristics of the soil and the
suction pressure in the water supply tank. The data collected
from datalogger for all the instruments agree with data collected
from the manually operated instruments. Observations of data by
datalogger system are quick, automatic, reliable and reasonably
guaranteed. |
