| Abstract | Disaster is an event in which a society undergoes severe
danger. It may occur as a result of one or more of a wide range
of events, both natural and man-made.
Information is an essential prerequisite to meaningful
study, sound planning and effective response to disaster. Emergency
Information System for Thailand (EIST) is an effective
system which requires instant access to quality information about
the emergency events, its effects, and the geographical distribution
of resources to minimize losses and maximize resource efficiency
. The proposed system in this study has been based on
information of the true flood disaster in Thailand.
The proposed EIST package consists of two main components:
EIST database component and Geographical Information System (GIS)
component. The required information can also be retrieved directly
from EIS database component or choosing entities from displayed
map through the use of a digitizer. |
