| Abstract | This study is concerned with a decision model for nitrogen
and phosphorus application for maize cultivation. The model is
based on the experimental work done at AIT since 1978 to this date.
Yield of maize is affected significantly by the value of
application of both nitrogen and phosphorus. Due to interaction of
nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization , a high yield is achieved
with a proper and optimum combined application of nitrogen and
phosphorus.
A field experiment was conducted with maize in the west end
campus of the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok during
February to May 1989. Three replications of nitrogen fertilizer
100 kg/ha , 150 kg/ha and 200 kg/ha with three phosphorus fertilizer
combinations 0 kg/ha, 50 kg/ha and 100 kg/ha with systematic plot
arrangement was studied. The purpose of the experiment was to check
the validity of computer model as well as to improve the model by
prognosis and correction. The co- efficient value between the
prediction and observed yield was found about 0 . 84. The observed
yield and economic analysis shows that maize production in Thailand
can be increased from t h e present yield of 2500 kg/ha with
substantial profit. |
