An energy audit , of the steam generation and distribution
system and the electrical system of the factory was conducted.
The results of the study of the steam supply system
identified two main areas for energy conservation opportunities:
Reduction of excess air in the two boilers can result in
some 4 % of the annual fuel bill amounting to Baht 93,000 per
year.
Waste heat recovery opportunities from the flue gas exist
for either preheating the combustion air or the boiler feed
water with estimated savings in the fuel bill of up to Baht
130,000 and also from the returned discharge water from the
Boarding machines and condensate with a modest saving of about
Baht 20,000 per year .
The following are the areas identified as having
potential conservation opportunities in the electrical system
The lighting system with judicious replacement by high
efficiency bulbs available in the market can accrue an
approximate saving of up to Baht 85,000 annually; with a pay back
of less than 1 1/2 years .
Power factor improvement will result in a saving of
approximately Baht 26,000 annually.
Load factor improvement with an estimated saving of
Baht 250,000 per year has been also identified.
Therefore, at a modest investment on the relatively simple
modification I addition carried out to the steam and electrical
systems, to improve the energy efficiencies, an approximate annual
saving of about Baht 600 , 000 or 10% of the total energy cost of
the factory will be realized. |
