| Abstract | Pile load tests data, the associated pile driving records and the sub-soil
informations were collected from four projects in the west coast of Malaysia. The
piles were reinforced concrete piles with triangular cross-sectional area. The data
were analyzed with respect to ultimate bearing capacity by various established
methods and were compared with the observed loads. There is a wide range of
methods adopted inclusive of the static formula, pile driving formulae, in-situ tests
correlation and finite element method. CH/N's an MAZURKIEWCZ's method were
applied to predict the ultimate load for those tests not carried to failure. The
results of the analysis have revealed that the predictions of the ultimate loads using
the static formula, Dutch cone, and S.P.T. tests results agree well with the observed
failure loads. The MAZURKIEWCZ's method, the predicted ultimate load obtained
from the load test which is not carried out to failure better than the other methods. |
