| Abstract | This study presents the development and proposed
implementation of a production scheduling model for a 2-stage
parallel processors process- type system. The solution algorithm
firstly focuses on solving the schedule at the bottleneck stage
,this is called the Focused Approach. The various product demands
are considered to be deterministic within a finite planning
horizon. The scheduling objective is to maximize the
utilization of production facilities. Only major products are
considered firstly; any reduction of flow time of major products
is a benefit that can be utilized by minor products. The solution
procedure for this problem is divided into four parts. Firstly,
each packing-size is allocated to each packing-line in such a way
that total flow time plus overtime is minimized. Secondly, a
feasible packing sequence ·is chosen from a set of feasible
sequence. Thirdly, The production scheduling on packing line and
product- due-time of each product- type are calculated . Finally, a
heuristic algorithm is developed and applied to determine the
production scheduling on mixer in such a way that total number of
cleaning is minimized. Al though experimental results for real-life data are presented , emphasis is made on how the model was
developed and implemented. |
