| Abstract | With increasing competition and growing production targets
coupled with pressures both from labor and government, industries
today face the problem of reducing accidents a nd its costs. This
study analyzes the safety performance of the company in study
using preliminary hazards analysis and fault tree analysis to
come up with a safety program . The much needed statistical and
other related information are also generated to serve as guide
f or management decisions.
Hazards analysis was conducted to determine the safety
hazards present in t h e p l ant. Based on this preliminary analysis
which consisted of a study of historical rescores and general
investigations, the most frequent accident was identified to be
person s hit by broke n wire. Fault tree an lysis was used to
study this type of accident in detail .
A program was developed to raise the safety consciousness
among the worker s in the plant that would ultimately lead to the
reduction in accidents. The program in c ludes a safety policy and
organization, its implementing guide lines , and an improve d
information system. Activities to minimize t h e occurrence of the
most frequent accident were identified and t h ese proved to be
beneficial to overall plant productivity. |
