| Abstract | 11 sprayer nozzles, ( PIR, Solo, Carvan, Gloria, Sipi,
Geizhals, Iris, Sun, Ghazi, Hatsuta, AMRI. Hatsuta and AMRI nozzles were
in five and four orifice sizes respectively ) which are commonly used
in Pakistan, were tested in the laboratory to measure and evaluate
their performance regarding droplet size, discharge, spray angle and
uniformity of spray.
Further more hollow cone and T-Jet nozzles were tested in the field
with two types of spray method (vertical and horizontal).
Laboratory experiment was conducted at AMRI, Multan and field experiment was arranged at the farm of Cotton Research Institute Multan,
Pakistan.
Microphotographic equipment was used to take the photo of droplets
and these droplets were then classified in to different groups according
to their sizes. Then all these nozzles are compared for different sizes
of droplets such as < 50, 50 to 100, 101 to 150, 151 to 200 and >200
µm.
Sipi nozzle is best for droplet size less than 50 um. AMRI nozzles
with orifice size of 1.0 mm and 1.2 mm are best for droplet sizes 50
to 100 and 101 to 150 µm respectively . When required droplet size is
50 to 100 µm. again AMRI nozzle with an orifice size of 1.0 mm is best
of all.
In field experiment hollow cone nozzle with vertical spray gave
more yield and more insect control as compared to other nozzles and
method of spray application. |
